The official SEO Crest
Sigma Epsilon Omega was founded on February 22, 2007 by Travis Garcia and a group of young men would later form the Alpha class. Motivated by the idea of fusing the Greek and gay communities on campus, Garcia held meetings in Dwinelle, attracted reporters and news crews, and established the foundation of the brotherhood we all enjoy today. The Alpha class chose our motto, vires per adversum("strength through adversity") and deemed the attributes Strength, Equality, and Opportunity as the core values and principles of SEO.
The SEO Motto
The Alpha class saw to the longevity of SEO with the introduction of the Beta class, and since then seven more pledge classes have followed. With the third pledge class, the Gamma class, the fraternity moved into its first house on 2545 Dana Street. SEO members resided there until May 2011, when the fraternity moved into a new, much bigger house on fraternity row at 2708 Channing Way.
Our traditions and values continue to mature and grow as we look toward a promising future.
