Derick Matano is a project coordinator in the construction and design field. His alumni update is that he is still madly in love with his partner and fellow alumni, Michael Lepage. After graduation, the two decided to make a life together along with their cat Fanta, an orange tabby who is just as fabulous as her owners! Sending good vibes and lots of love to these cuddle monster! #RelationshipGoals
Last semester, the members of Sigma Epsilon Omega noticed that our local Womxn clinic did not have a proper sign. For months they had been using a piece of cardboard and we felt that we should gift to them a sign that properly displays all the love and hard work that their volunteers put into the community. After a few days of work and a bit of elbow grease, we were able to gift them a double sided sign as colorful and inviting as the kind people who work there! Each of the siblings who worked on the sign left their own personal mark on it and were grateful to be able to give back to an organization that gives so much to our communities.
The Suitcase Clinic is a humanitarian student organization and volunteer community that offers free health and social services to underserved populations. Structured around the principles of public health, social welfare, and community activism, it currently operates three weekly multi-service drop-in centers in the city of Berkeley: the General Clinic, the Women’s Clinic and the Youth/LGBTQ+ Clinic. In addition to providing services, it strives to educate students, engage in community organization, and support public policy efforts that address homelessness in the local community.
